400+ Luxe essentials

Sure, whipping up delicious spaghetti from scratch might sound like a daunting task, but it’s not as intimidating as you might think. With an easy-to-use pasta machine and some basic kitchen essentials, you can master the art of making fresh, homemade pasta in no time.

What You Need To Get Started

  • Pasta Machine
  • Cutting Board
  • Cooking Utensils
  • Flour (00 flour is a great option for a silkier texture, while semolina flour provides a heartier, stiffer finish. Don’t have those on hand? All-purpose flour works just fine, too.)
  • Eggs
  • Olive Oil
  • Sea Salt
  • Water

You most likely already have most of what you need in your kitchen, so you’re off to a great start. But you'll need a good pasta machine to bring your dough to life. Our Alta Pasta Machine is a great entry point for beginners and powerful enough for seasoned pros. It delivers restaurant-grade results for a fraction of the cost of other machines and provides the versatility you need to make all your favorite pasta dishes.

Starting From Scratch

Begin by forming the flour into a mound on your cutting board. With a spoon, create a large crater and add the eggs, olive oil, and salt. Using a fork, carefully break up the eggs and work them into the flour until they're combined into a shaggy dough. Next, knead the dough for about ten minutes until it's smooth and elastic. Roll it into a ball, wrap it tightly with plastic wrap, and let it rest for 30 minutes. Once the dough has settled, you can use it immediately or refrigerate it for up to a day.

The Art of Pasta

At this point, you could try to roll and cut your pasta by hand (and all the power to you, Chef). But for the sake of time and precision, we recommend using your pasta machine to create perfect, uniform noodles. This is as simple as flattening your ball of dough into a circle and passing it through the pasta maker, following the machine’s instructions. The Alta Pasta Machine features nine adjustable settings that allow you to shape your dough into fettuccine, spaghetti, lasagna, and everything in between.

Share the Amore

Once you’re feeling like a pasta pro, why not host a dinner party to showcase your new skills? Bring out your favorite flatware set and let your family and friends experience your finished creations masterpieces, or invite a loved one to help you in the kitchen (we think pasta-making is an amazing date-night activity). Once you learn to make the perfect dough, you and your pasta machine will be able to knock out any recipe the internet has to offer. We’re just here to share the love and get you inspired.
